Sirius XM Kick’s Off Summer With Memorial Day Specials

Once again proving that content is the differentiating factor that sets Sirius XM (SIRI) apart from its competition, the company has announced an outstanding memorial day line up of exclusive programming available nowhere else.

Sirius kicks off the holiday weekend at 6:00 p.m with the Kenny Chesney Sun City Summer Kickoff featuring cuts and exclusive interviews with Kenny Chesney discussing his new release, Greatest Hits2, and his current 2009 Sun City Carnival Tour on Sirius channel 60 and XM channel 16.

Sirius channel 24 and XM channel 54, also known as LITHIUM, will feature a Pearl Jam weekend that will play songs from Pearl Jam’s reissues/remixed issues of Ten as well as live tracks and interview clips.

Beginning May 25 at 12:00 am ET., 80′S ON 8 offers a “No Slow Weekend” that will feature up-tempo, beach-going, barbecuing favorites all weekend.

Faction (SIRIUS channel 28 and XM channel 52) kicks off the summer season by playing the best songs to board to, whether it’s a surfboard or a skateboard. Listeners will hear the best music from the surf and skate communities, including everything from Dick Dale and Agent Orange to The Faction and Suicidal Tendencies.

DEEP TRACKS (SIRIUS channel 16 and XM channel 40) will feature concert segments and exclusive performances throughout the Memorial Day weekend. Artists include The Alan Parsons Project, Gregg Allman, Dave Mason, Eric Burdon and The Animals, Gov’t Mule, Foghat, Heart, Little Feat, Robin Trower, Roger McGuinn, Wishbone Ash and The Yardbirds.

ALT-NATION (SIRIUS channel 21, XM channel 47) presents “Silver SUN Memorial Day Weekend.” Alt-Nation listeners will hear an exclusive acoustic performance by Silversun Pickups as well as an in-depth interview with the band. The alternative rockers will also host Alt-Nation’s Alt-18 Most Requested Countdown.

SIRIUS XMU (SIRIUS channel 26 and XM channel 43) SIRIUS XMU’s Throwback/Comeback Memorial Day Weekend will explore the music of indie legends then and now with songs from artists including Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, PJ Harvey and Morrissey.
