In yet another exclusive Satwaves Radio interview last night, Matthew B Moffett, President of Turnkey Media Solutions and Satellite Radio Superstore dropped in to discuss the prospects of Sirius XM Radio’s (SIRI) business subscription service and retail outlook. Mr. Moffett has been in the Satellite Radio business since 2001, and offers a unique perspective of the retail and business landscape. SRS has both an XM website and Sirius website for those with a service preference..
Mr. Moffett des
cribed an environment in which Muzak’s subscriber losses are adding up to big business for Turnkey Media. As Muzak’s customer’s long term contracts expire, more and more are seeking a better solution to providing background music legally in their businesses and franchises. Turnkey is a licensed reseller of Sirius and XM subscriptions for business at a much lower monthly cost than Muzak, no long term contracts and single party billing.
Mr. Moffett also confirmed that as of last nights show, the expected launch date of the new XM SkyDock, which enables Apple (AAPL) iPhones and iPod Touch devices to be used as full fledged satellite radios, remains scheduled for an October 18, 2009 release date. Mr. Moffett explained that he is already seeing high demand for the new offering in advance of its release and as a result, Satellite Radio Superstore has preordered the SkyDock from the manufacturer and the Satellite Radio Superstore will soon be accepting preorders from retail consumers as well. SRS is located in Florida and sells directly from its own warehouse. Those interested in a SkyDock should watch SRS daily for news that preorders have begun, and Satwaves will be sure to alert its readers as that occurs.
As of now, no release date has been offered for Sirius XM Radio’s other new radio offerings such as the TTR1 (a unique tabletop wireless internet radio) or the XM Onyx and Sirius Stratus 6 (new plug and play offerings) suggesting that Sirius XM is managing its subscriber acquisition costs well, in advance of the holiday season.
Position: Long SIRI

Thanks Brandon for this great site and all of your hard work! Can you PLEASE find out if our Sirius has any plans to truly advertise in an Apple type way. With all the talent we have under contract, it makes me sick we have yet to optimize and utilize this advantage in some sort of slick national ad campaign. Stock holders are bleeding with frustration because of this subject. Thanks again for all your help, George.
Also, any news on haward being available on Apple iPhone App (not via Skydock)?
@JamesPS
Howard via internet feed is ostensibly a contractual issue not soon to be resolved, thus the popularity of the skydock.
I know that the new Modulator technology was given preliminary approval by the FCC…has there approval been made official yet? I know it should be a technicality, but it won’t be the first time they had problems with the FCC dealing with their modulators. I would hate to see a hold up during the holiday season on the skydock or any other new radio such as the ONYX. I’m hoping that they have a media campaign that will launch the skydock, new radios and the $100.00 debit card program they have on their website for new customers. I;m not a fan..but maybe Rosie Odonnel’s show will help launch the new products as well as some other personalities…
The skydock is available for pr-order on amazon.com for $119.00…
Now that CNBC is on sirius, has anyone seen CNBC make any reference to sirius?
Not one, single solitary mention from CNBC. These bastards would rather tea bag a tank of piranhas than make a reference to Sirius/XM. Being on Sirius hasn’t changed the sinister agenda they have against satellite radio one iota! What a bunch of jerk offs.
I think people misunderstood about CNBC getting added to SIRIUSXM online selection. CNBC has been on XM for a long time. They have been available since at least when the channels were merged about a year ago. CNBC’s market is on cable and satelite tv. After that they have a small market for people who listen while driving. Then a very small market that will listen on their iphone or ipod touch at work. The only thing new is there ability to be listened to on the iphone or ipod touch over the internet. They have been on satelite rAdio for a long time. CNBC audience at best increased by a few hundred people by being added to the internet streaming lineup. The 18 million or so satelite subscirbers have had access to CNBC for a long time. I don’t know why people think thAt being added to an iphone app that not many new subscriber paid for will make CNBC start to say good things about the company…..Being added to the internet stream was a non-story..
